Yigua Liquor is sauce-flavored liquor fermented by traditional techniques and the packaging design is a continuation of traditional Chinese style. The design of two packages is inspired by Lingnan stained glass and landscape painting. One package bears distinctive, contrasting colors that are complementary to the bottle glass. The other is set in the traditional Chinese landscape painting with a magnificent landscape painting composed of black, white and grey.

In this project, the design of the outer box is advised to infuse the peculiarity and cultural gene of the Chinese nation, while taking into account the regional and contemporary customs. Peculiarity is undoubtedly the paramount factor in the distinctive characteristics of the branding image; the conceived idea, composition, text, graphics, color scheme and presentation of the liquor packaging design should be designed as coherent to the tradition with contemporary features.

This project is intended to retain the branding gene and product core and make consumers feel fresh and engaged. The era of Product 4.0 breaks away from the fickle product design, while calls for a return to the product itself and an infusion of brand gene, user needs and commercial aesthetics, which is believed as the only way to opening the new page of China’s liquor packaging design.
